Indian Cricket - History Repeats Itself

The making of a bunch of chokers or am I being unduly harsh. History did strange things to Hockey Giant India. History is going to repeat itself now. India's Cricket team is soon gonna register its presence in the important tournaments with a tag of Non-Test Playing Nation. The changing face of the game in view of Improved fielding, physically Stronger Players, Increased level of Professionalism in every aspects of the game, and the advent of Twenty 20 Cricket will surely take its toll on India's bunch of immobile fools.

As I write this, India is headed for second straight victory over Bangladesh. Hardcore Indian fans might be rejoicing over the lame victory in a series that was branded as Revenge Series. But it does not take a Nostradamus to read the writing on the wall.

So finally India sacked Sachin Romesh Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. And took the future Dinesh Mongia, & Virender Sehwag in their place. I am extremely sorry to say that if these were the replacements to the illustrious stars, Sachin and Ganguly fans are extremely justified in demanding for their reinstatement.

Rahul Dravid, the worst captain in the world was retained and his pick Sehwag has also been retained to prove his worth against a Mediocre Bangladesh attack, strangely he is founding it difficult to do even that.

To add to these, the worst batsman and wicket-keeper Dhoni is being played at Number 3. Dhoni's plight is clearly visible against Mediocre Bangy attack. I shudder to think what would have happened had he played at the same place against a good team like Aussie or SA. And how good Team India is can be judged from the fact that the selectors are playing two wicket-keepers as they cannot find a good batsman among a billion people.

In the current team, only four batsmen deserved to be picked - Dinesh Karthik, Yuvraj Singh, Rahul Dravid, and Gautam Gambhir. Rather selectors and the board have again missed the golden opportunity to hone some young blood and have chosen to play the stars of the past - Dhoni, Mongia, Sehwag et al.

Be prepared to see India being thrashed by every imaginable team in the near future with our Great Stars still holding to their places because replacements are not available according t the Selectors and Gullible Junta.

It is with great delight that I join you in celebrating(No..I did not mean mourning) the death of Indian cricket...
The BCCI has made an a** of itself by losing a great opportunity to blood youth..& "newcomers" like Gautam Gambhir & Mongia who are already knocking on their 30's (My guess) never seem to be too far away from a recall...
If Sehwag can be retained because of a triple century he scored against pakistan & because he can roll his arm for offpsin...Then why cant Irfan be used as a genuine batting all-rounder rather than dropping him just cause he has lost his wonderful in-swing..??
And whatever happened to Ritinder Singh Sodhi..??I thought we had another Kapil in the making there...
Huh..!!! Oh well...It was high time that professionalism won over mere "passion"

Well said Shubhankar,

But then Professionalism is a word these Office-Bearers only remember while issuing official statements..

Official yes...& also bureaucratic & head-weighted...I know they will attribute their "unprofessionalism" to their asian and/or subcontinental ethnicity...But somebody remind them the very Pakistanis & Sri Lankans that they used to use as failsafe excuse to justify their appalling performances have now turned remarkably pro-active...Sri Lanka went for Jaywardhane & dropped Atapattu (Senior Player+ Ex Captain) coz Tharanga had proved himself...Pakistan did not mind having the young Malik as captain inspite of the presence of other "senior" players...
While we still go on with a captain who has the worst record as Indian captain in about 2 decades..."youngsters" who arent young enough to stick around for another generation, while "newcomers" (the real youngsters) keep disapperaing god knows where..!!!!

Height of professionalism:
BCCI does not even have website of its own.

The richest cricket body in the world does not invest on the infrastructure. The greatest draw back is that Indian cricket cannot innovate... We always tend to copy everything from the Australians...

Hopefully ICL will help if at it becomes a reality! :)
